The aim of this workbook is simple.
- To help us all to develop our Spiritual Disciplines.
- Through these exercises to grow closer to God and thereby be more able bless other people.
We spend a lot of time on our appearance, on what we eat and drink. We spend hours of our life in leisure. I suspect we spend rather less time in developing our relationship with God. I want to encourage us all to develop and grow the most important part of our life– Our Spiritual Life. “Strive first for the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6v33
Lent is a good place to start. I hear people say “I am giving up chocolate for Lent” or “I am giving up booze” or “I am giving up Facebook”. I believe Lent is not for giving up but taking on; It is 40 days that can be used to give that little extra time into developing our interior life– Inevitably the extra time needed will involve giving up something!
