The Men’s Dinners were instigated a few years ago as a means of giving the men of the Parish an opportunity to get together on a social basis as otherwise across the 3 churches the men rarely got together as a group.
The plan is to have between 2 and 3 dinners a year. We try to base them all in and around Staines town centre, using a variety of venues, pubs, Chinese, Italian, curry houses.
At each dinner we aim to get a speaker to give a short talk on a wide range of topics. Attendance is usually between 20 and 30 per dinner, and whilst costs are kept to a minimum, we usually pay £15-£20 per head which covers expenses and the speaker. Should there be any excess funds, they are donated to the Parish, but the event is a primarily a social event.
